We have been making comparisons with length. We gathered some real-life objects and talked about which ones are longer and which ones are shorter. We made comments such as: “The pipe-cleaner is longer than the knife. The knife is shorter than the pipe-cleaner.” In our phonics sessions we have been learning to recognise initial sounds in spoken words; we did this by playing a game of I-Spy. We had to find objects from the collection that began with the given letter sound.
