APPLYING FOR A SCHOOL PLACE

Applying for a place in Reception

Children with a date of birth between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021 start full-time school in September 2025. This first year is called ‘Reception’.

Solihull Admissions have confirmed that the applications for Reception will be open from Autumn 2024

Even if your child attends Valley Primary School Nursery you will still need to apply for a Reception place.

If you live in Solihull you can apply online from October 2024.

Apply online at www.solihull.gov.uk/Schools-and-learning/School-admissions

Any appeals regarding school places will be managed by the Local Authority in line with the admissions policy.

In-Year Applications (Reception-Year 6)

An application can be made for a place for a child at any time outside the admission round and the child will be admitted where there are places available. An application should be made via the Local Authority by completing the in-year admissions application form which is available from: https://www.solihull.gov.uk/Schools-and-learning/School-admissions.

Applying for a place in Nursery

If your child was born between 1 September 2021 and 31 August 2022 you can apply for 15 hours free Nursery Education in a Solihull school, starting in September 2025. We also offer 30 hours places for entitled families.

Applications for Nursery places are made to schools directly. Please see the Nursery admissions policy for details. The closing date for applications is 13 January 2025, however late applications will be accepted after this if we have places.
